January Date Night

One of my goals for the year is to have at least one date night a month with my sweet hubby! We decided to make much use of a Red Lobster gift card Derek's grandmother got us for Christmas and went out to dinner!

We went to Home Depot first and started picking out/ finding things we liked for the home we hope and plan to build in 2014. Never too early to start picking out specifics especially when there are so many things you have to pick out when building a house.

We went to Red Lobster early (around 5:15). I know, I know, we sound like old people but we beat the crowd and didn't have to wait! We were out the door by 6:15! We had amazing shrimp, yummy soup and some of the best cheddar biscuits ever! After our dinner, we went to Lowes to check out what they had. We had so much fun even though we agree and disagree on some things.

What we both like:
darker oak cabinets
a couple cabinets with glass windows
in the counter sinks
brushed nickel fixtures (faucets, etc)
lever door knobs
double ovens (even though they are $$$)
satin/semi gloss paint instead of flat paint
wood trim and wood interior doors

Things we disagree on:
I love wide plank wood floors--He likes skinnier plank wood floors
I like the refrigerators that have the 2 doors for the refrigerator and the drawer for the freezer--he doesn't like them.
I like wood on the stairs--he doesn't

We still can't decided on what kind of front door we like but all in all we have more in taste than what we disagree on.

Even though they are prettier, consider staying away from a door with a huge window. Easier to break into those homes. Just a thought.
