His and Hers

I saw this adorable idea over at Happiness Is... today and over at Mrs. Bear's blog and thought that I must "borrow" it. Hubs thoughts don't appear much on my bloggy but he amused me and agreed to it.

HIS
biggest pet peeve: punctuality

most hated food: broccoli

most despised type of music: Rap

chore to avoid: Dishes

worst trend imaginable: social networks

idea of the worst vacation:   (He gave up...didn't want to amuse me any more) :(

HERS

biggest pet peeve: bad drivers and kids or adults talking when teachers/presenters are talking....drives me NUTS!

most hated food:  raw tomatoes
most despised type of music: screaming punk/rock "so called" music..this isn't music, people!!
chore to avoid: Dishes and Bathrooms

worst trend imaginable: as a teacher, silly bands, although I didn't have much trouble with them this past year as the year before, in general...I'd have to agree with Mrs. Bear, Anything about the show Jersey Shore.

idea of the worst vacation: having to go on a vacation by myself.

Wednesday Love

I'm linking up with Jamie, you should, too :)

I'm LOVING...my cute toes that my teacher friend, Rosie painted for me!
I'm LOVING our vacation...yes, I know I've posted this week but a.) it either has been pre-written, or b.) it's been a little rainy out so I have some time.
More pics to come later :)
I'm LOVING..my book that I'm currently reading. Much different than what I'm use to and much thicker (thin pages, small text and 850 pages long) and different dialect in some parts. BUT I LOVE IT!

As always, I'm LOVING my wonderful hubby, family and friends.

Renting a boat today! Can't wait! Happy Wednesday, Ya'll!

New things happening around here!

Hey Ya'll!

Just wanted to let you know what I've added on here. I made a new header, as if you didn't already notice :). I wanted to use a wedding picture and a picture of my new shoes. I don't have anything up for teaching yet but it's cute and was on picnik for free! I'm doing a camping theme in my classroom this year and I'm so excited about it! I'll have to post pics and updates soon.

I also added some new books under my pages section (under my header) and I added a recipe section. Just click on the recipes and it will take you to the post where the recipe is located!

Also, I think I'm going to start looking for a blog designer. I want a cute signature and a button but for an affordable price. I tried to figure it out myself but it just wasn't happening. If you have an suggestions, please comment!

Friday's Recipes

Hey Ya'll! I am back in action with Friday's Four New Recipes. I've decided to not limit it to four because I just want the freedom again and not feel guilty if I don't post four every week. I also want to share old recipes that we love, not just the new. I'll post a few today and then I have a special one coming next week that will be featuring this cute book that I LOVE!
Green Monster Smoothie
Ingredients:
4 or 5 leaves of spinach
handful of frozen blueberries
half of a banana
some strawberries
1 tablespoon of ground flax seed
1 cup of almond milk or any milk you would like
ice

blended to perfection.

Note to self and others-DO NOT USE KALE...GROSS!

Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
(We had our first grade picnic and had a ton of leftover oranges..so what did I do? Tried to make some orange juice)
No wonder OJ is so expensive.

15 orange only made 1/4  the pitcher. It wasn't that good either...not enough sugar apparently. Derek and I will be buying our OJ from now on! :)

Brownie Heath Bar Triffle
Ingredients:
Brownies-made from the box
package of Heath bar bites (found in the baking section by the chocolate chips)
2 containers of cool whip

Layer brownie, then cool whip and then heath bar. Repeat until your triffle bowl is filled!

And there ya have it! YUMMY!

Happy Friday Ya'll!

P.S. YOU DID IT!!! I have 52 followers and my first giveaway will be when we get back from vacation! We are leaving today for our lake vacation with friends! I'm so excited! This giveaway is going to be AWESOME!

Becoming Mrs. Crafty

*SIDE NOTE* Only need one more follower to host my very first giveaway!!!

Back to the real reason for this blog post today. I have been instilled with craftiness my whole life. My mother is the crafter/creative extraordinaire. She scrapbooks, makes jewelry, takes beautiful photographs, is awesome with children, makes cute cakes/cookies/candies, makes beautiful wreaths, etc. You name it, she probably can make it...or help you think of an idea and then help you with it. By the way...she also made all my wedding flowers. From centerpieces for the reception, to the corsages/boutonnieres , all of the bouquets, the ring bearer pillows, the flower girl baskets, the flowers for the ceremony,  vamped up my cake topper, any so much more..What did I forget, mom? I really think she should open up at ETSY shop. She'd make a killing!

So I'm trying to be as crafty as my mother..and start some projects. I found this one on Pinterest!! FAVORITE PLACE EVER!
My friend, Lindsey's daughter Addiston just turned a year old and to go along with some books that I bought her, I made this:
Her bedroom is in pinks and browns, so here's the how to:
What you will need:
-a jar of buttons (or the color of buttons that you want to use)
-a frame
-hot glue gun and sticks
-card stock
-ruler
-pencil
-glue stick
How to do it: I cut the card stock to fit in a 4x6 frame. I free handed the A and cut it out. I glued it onto the card stock with a glue stick. Now you wouldn't have to do this step if you just wanted to pencil the A in on the actual card stock, I just thought it was going to be easier this way.
Jar of buttons from an antique store close to Hubby's parents house in Ohio.

Sort out the buttons you want to use. Make sure you have a variety of sizes

Arrange them and start gluing!

There ya have it! Cute button monogram.
I've been working on some other projects for my house that I will post soon!
Be Blessed today!

What I'm loving Wednesday!

I know it's late but better late than never I always say! I had some pretty exciting things to love this week, in fact even this day. That is part of the reason why I waited until later to post! Link up with Jamie, while you still can!!
I'm loving that I finally got my new camera in the mail on Monday. I now am the proud owner of a Canon DSLR Rebel xsi :) I can't wait to figure out how to really work it.

Some pics from my new gem :)

I  am also loving that I had some great professional development days last week. I went to a training called Quantum learning. It was INCREDIBLE! and I can't wait to use the strategies in my classroom this coming year! Amy and I also went out to eat with our teammate, Lacey. She had her baby close to the end of school so we haven't seen her or the baby. Luckily I had my new awesome camera!!

I am loving that we are leaving for vacation soon! Yay for our lake vacation! We are getting this amazing cabin on the lake with some friends and we are going to rent a boat for one day, go hiking, relax and read!

I am LOVING that I got to meet my FAVORITE author tonight at Barnes and Noble. KAREN KINGSBURY! Her books are so inspirational and have made me really enjoy reading.
 Karen Kingsbury
Her daughter, Kelsey Kingsbury, who is the inspiration of Bailey Flanigan character in Karen's books.

I am loving my sweet husband who always knows how to cheer me up, is my best friend, is always thinking on the positive side and always reassures me that everything will work out in God's time.
Happy Wednesday, Ya'll! Be Blessed!

short and sweet

This is going to be short and sweet and to the point...This week was CRAZY! I had professional development Thursday and Friday and then again on Monday and Tuesday. I hope to be back in blogging mode after Tuesday.

Today my Bible study girls and some others from our church went to the Bell Buckle, TN RC Cola and Moon pie Festival. About 8 people from our big group ran the 10 mile run. 3 of them were girls from our Bible Study. I'll post pics later. I had one deep fried oreo..AMAZING and "A pig in a potato patch" aka pulled bbq pork in a baked potato with butter, sourcream and cheese...sooooo yummy! Didn't count calories today and not feeling guilty one bit :)

Have a great Sunday, Ya'll! This is the day the Lord has made!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hey Ya'll! I saw this on Kim's blog and thought I'd play along!

1. This weekend I'm  traveling home to TN, Addy's First B-day party  and  church on Sunday.

2. My last vacation was  these past two weeks. Hubs is now self employed and can work from anywhere so he brought his computer along, so we spent a week in WV with my family and a week in OH with his family!

3. My next vacation will be  soon to Boone Lake in TN with some friends. We are getting an awesome beautiful cabin on the lake!

4. My favorite way to relax is  to be at a pool reading or laying out in the pool or watching movies with hubby.

5. When vacationing one should always  have fun and do things that they normally wouldn't do on a day to day basis...sleep in, eat whatever you want, be adventurous,  and go with the flow!

6. When vacationing one should never  worry about what you are eating or what time it is (I'm guilty of this though...I like to plan but sometimes I can just go with the flow.)

7. The best part about a vacation is just being away and enjoying the people you are with.

I'm going to try my best to start up Recipe Friday next week. Instead of posting 4 new recipes, I'm going to change my button to be just Recipe Friday's. I have some great ones to share and I'm so excited. Be looking for some yummy desserts!

Help Wanted! and WILW

Hey Ya'll!

I am needing some advice/help on some things I would like to do with my blog design.

First off, I want to make a button for my blog and am not sure about the design or how I go about making one. I also would love to make a signature for my blog. I have also notice that on some internet browsers, my background doesn't fit the whole screen. It works for me on Mozilla but when I use safari on my phone, it doesn't show up. Can anyone help me fix this? I also have been wanting to add the sharing buttons at the end of my blog entries like email, twitter, facebook, etc.

Anyways onto what I LOVE to do every Wednesday...Link up with Jamie, duh!!
I'm LOVING this man and his ability to be the best golfer ever, not to mention a pretty darn good teacher. (The very first time he took my was when we first started dating and the lesson wasn't as good as this time, hubs, you got better at teaching!!!)
I'm LOVING that I got to spend all last week at my parents house and all this week at my inlaws house! YAY for being a teacher in the summer and for having a self employed hubby!

To go along with the above love...I'm LOVING that I got to go to my fav asian restaurant while I was home in WV...TASTE OF ASIA!!! I had their Angel roll and TOA roll! SO GOOD!
I'm also LOVING that we got to go out to my parents camper at their sports club and shoot the shot guns at the skeet range, build a campfire, roast marshmallows and hot dogs and enjoy everyone's company our last night there.
Beautiful sunset at the skeet range
Ginormous marshmallows!!!

I'm LOVING that my MIL and I are having a great time exercising. We walked around their little town Sunday totaling about 2 miles or so. We went to the YWCA and did some strength training and treadmill and bike and I totaled 3 miles on the treadmill and 3 miles biking. That night we took their dog on a walk for 1 mile and yesterday we went to the beautiful reservoir and walked 3.5 miles. I'm glad I get to slowly get back into the groove since my knee problems. We didn't do any of these distances for time...so they were slow but it's exactly what I needed!
The breeze and the waves in the water made me imagine that I was at the beach! Oh how I wish I could be at the beach..the next best thing is that we are going to Boone Lake in East Tennessee for a cabin on the lake vacation soon!

Have a great Wednesday, Ya'll!
