Great is Thy faithfulness

November 6th, 2011: I'm very thankful for my church, my Sunday school class and my church family. We go to Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene. I'm always challenged and feel refreshed on Sundays. I grew up in a Nazarene church (South Charleston 1st church of the nazarene in WV) and that church was my foundation. I love getting to go back home to my home church to visit and see old family friends and all the church staff. Church has always been a huge, beneficial part of my life and I'm so thankful that I had parents that valued being involved in church. It helped me grow into the striving christian that I am today.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

P.S. I get to finally see Wicked the Musical this afternoon! I'm SO SO excited! I'll recap that on Monday!

Quiet time

It's Saturday morning and when I'm not training, getting up at an hour I do not like to see on the weekends to get in my long run, I am still getting up pretty early. As some of you don't know and other definitely know, I'm not a "sleep in" type of person. I'm a early to bed, early to riser. Even on the weekends, sleeping until 8 or 8:30 is way late for me. I woke up around 7:30, lied in bed playing around with my phone for about an hour, had a great thought and got up. I put on my soft, fuzzy pink robe (which I normally don't do) but thought it would be nice and warm this morning, put on my matching slippers and came downstairs. Hubs is still fast asleep and will be for awhile until I wake him up. (we are totally opposites when it comes to sleep/staying up) I thought, this will be a perfect time to make some coffee, have some toast with apple butter on it, open our sliding door drapes and read some of my bible study book.
So on November 5th, 2011: I'm thankful for my Bible study with the girls and I'm thankful for this book. This is the second book I've done with these girls. We all come from different chapters of life but one thing I know for sure, is that we all love the Lord and the relationships that have bonded us together. This is the first time in my life (in a Bible study setting) that I feel like I can be totally real and raw with my feelings/life. I don't have anything to hide and I can be completely honest with these girls. They offer advice and better yet, we gather around praying for each other.

As far as this book goes, "No Other Gods-confronting our modern day idols" By Kelly Minter, is by far the best Bible study book I've been a part of. When you think of "gods/idols," I know the first thing that comes to your mind is probably: TV/media, addiction to...you name it, etc. These are the typical idols that I thought of. When we started this book, I thought "Well, I guess some of the shows I watch are probably not the best to be watching, or probably some of the music I listen to maybe I shouldn't listen to any more" but when I thought of idols on that realm, I couldn't think of much. As we got deeper into the study (and we are only on week 4 and 5), I realized that people in our lives serve as our idols as well. It's not just something physical that we get sucked into. It can be relationships as well.  I read James 4:1-10 this morning and  I want to be more single-minded towards God,  meaning He is my ONE focus, not double-minded, when we claim God is our God while we are serving false gods.

If you made it though all that, thanks for letting me be real with my feelings and share what I'm learning in my life as of late.

Be thankful and blessed this November Saturday.

CMA

Happy Friday night, girls! I know I normally don't write two post in one day but this is worth posting! I entered a giveaway contest on hernashville.com magazine for an Experience the CMA Awards: http://hernashville.com/her/experience-cma-awards

I was contacted through email today saying Congratulations, you have won two tickets to the CMA Awards Red Carpet Viewing Section. I immediately thought I had won tickets to the actual CMA awards. After telling tons of people at work and some friends, I emailed back the lady to ask some questions. She informed me that it was only "to see the stars arrive, and will also receive a gift bag courtesy of People Country magazine! You never know which stars will stop to greet the crowd, sign an autograph, or even take a picture with lucky the fortunate fans!" I was a little bummed but I'm still REALLY excited to get this opportunity for FREE! Who knows, we might get lucky that night! I'm taking my friend Heather for an early birthday present! When I was younger, I never won drawings or prizes but it seems like ever since I've been down here in Nashville, I've won more drawings/prizes, etc. I've won several times for things at school and a gift basket from a macy's fashion show and now this awesome experience! I feel like a very lucky girl!

Wicked excited

November 4th, 2011: I'm thankful for the weekends! I love getting to spend time with my family and friends either being busy having fun or having some much needed relaxation. I'm very thankful for this weekend because I finally get to go see the musical I've been wanting to see ever since it premiered on Broadway. I get to go with some of my friends this weekend to see Wicked.

I've loved the soundtrack ever since it came out and I've listened to the book on CD. Although, I've heard the book is really different, I'm sure I will love the musical! I liked the book but it was hard to get into at first. It was VERY long and drawn out in some parts.
Happy Friday, Y'all! Be thankful :)

Day 3

November 3rd, 2011: I'm thankful for my family and friends. I have the best parents a girl could ask for. They raised me in a christian home and set a good example for me. They love me unconditionally and support me through whatever I do. I have two great younger brothers, who at time we had our arguments, but what are big sisters for? I have wonderful in-laws and sis-and bro-in laws! I am so glad we are so close and get to spend time with them. I have an awesome extended family who there are too many to name but they all love and care for each other. We have some great traditions and I hope one day, Hubs and I can carry over those traditions when we have a family of our own.

As for friends, I'm a very lucky girl! I have some of my best friends back home in WV, friends all over from college, and my close girls down here in Nashville to share the day to day with. I love this quote from pinterest:
Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone! Be thankful!

Love & Thankfulness

Happy Wednesday, Y'all!
First and foremost, today is November 2, 2011 and I am thankful for my husband. I am so blessed that God brought him into my life because he is my better half. He keeps me sane, he makes me rationalize, he makes me laugh and smile. He is a wonderful Godly man who has a givers heart and I am so proud to call him mine!

I love you, hubby :)

For Pinteresting Wednesday, I'm going to feature some fun Turkey/Thanksgiving crafts to do at school. I'm linking up with Michelle, from The Vintage Apple for:

In November

"In November, the air grows cold and the earth and all of its creatures prepare for winter. In November, the earth is growing quiet." Cynthia Rylant.

Today I read "In November" by Cynthia Rylant to my 1st graders. I love the imagery in that story. It gets us all in the mood for crisp air, trees almost bare, and families gathered round the dinner table, giving thanks.

We talked about the month of November in my class today and all agree that even though November hold the glorious holiday of Thanksgiving, we should give thanks throughout the year. So, although we give thanks many times during the year,  I'm going to post one thing I'm thankful for each day for the month of November.

November 1st, 2011:  I am thankful for my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I would be nothing without Him. My life verse is:

In other news, I was contacted by Jason from http://pocketchange.become.com/, one of the biggest shopping blogs out there. He told me that I have received the Editor's pick award/creative chef award from their site. I was pretty excited about this! So here's my pretty badge!

Have a great Tuesday night, Y'all!
